Exhibition, Recent Prints by Alice Kay McMillan, Martha Cloud Chapman Gallery (Arts and Cultural (On Campus))
Description:

Alice Kay McMillan holds the BA from Furman University and the MFA from East Tennessee State University and is an instructor in visual art at Wofford College and USC Upstate.  She has had numerous single and group exhibitions throughout  the SC Upstate and her work has been included in  National Parks Academy of the Arts touring exhibitions.

In the current exhibition  of prints, the process for most is polyester plate lithography.; others are solarplate etchings.  Some prints are hand-tinted.

Polyester lithographs are made using a thin, paper-like polyester plate similar to those used for offset lithograph. Marks are made on the plate either by hand with permanent markers, or through digital printing on the laser printer. Then the plate is drenched with water before oil-based lithography ink is rolled onto it. The ink adheres only to the marks. The prints were then created using a basic Blick etching press and good-quality printmaking papers.

In Solarplate etching a metal plate, pretreated with photo-sensitive film, is exposed with a black-inked transparency either in an exposure unit, or outside in the sun. The plate hardens everywhere but under the black artwork. After exposure, the plate is washed in water, and the artwork appears as if cut into the plate. This process can be used to produce relief prints or intaglio plates. Even tonal areas may be simulated.  Now used by many professionals, Solarplate is non-toxic and environmentally friendly.

The exhibition is a narrative of a trip with the artist抯 daughter Emma to Washington DC and back on the Southern Crescent train. It has become, in process, a memorial to her cousin, a cancer victim.

Exhibition: Wofford College during the Tenure of President Benjamin B. Dunlap, 2000 – 2013, The Sandor Teszler Library Gallery (Arts and Cultural (On Campus))
Description:

As President Dunlap plans for his retirement from the presidency of Wofford College, this valedictory exhibition looks at the changes and new directions for the college under his leadership.  From growth in the student body, to enhancements in academic programs, to major capital improvements, Wofford has been in a state of constant development during the past thirteen years.  This exhibition reminds of these changes as we prepare for more to come.

Interfaith Youth Corp & CIL event: Religious Pluralism 101: Engaging Worldview Identity at Wofford, AAAS Room, Burwell Building (Academic)
Description: Please join us this morning as we continue our collaborative work with the Interfaith Youth Corp project being led at Wofford by Drs. Jones, Goldey, and Robinson.

Background:
In 2011, Wofford College and the Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) formed a partnership to create a culture of interfaith cooperation on campus. Last year, we identified both strengths and opportunities for growth with respect to interfaith cooperation at Wofford through a robust assessment of campus climate. Now, we are eager to enhance student, staff and faculty capacity to engage religious diversity in a constructive way at Wofford.

Workshop Description:
The IFYC workshop will increase staff and faculty religious literacy, present a snapshot of religious and spiritual campus climate at Wofford, offer techniques for constructively engaging worldview identity in student programming and in the classroom, and offer space for faculty and staff to share best practices and workshop challenging situations with one another.

Participants will be invited to continue the discussion over lunch catered by the CIL.
